I've been using Anaconda for a couple years now and it runs fine on my old
(9 year) laptop running Windows 7.
I tried installing on my work provided ThinkPad and it would just open a
quick command line dialog box and nothing would happen. I tried all the
fixes I could find and nothing worked. I was installing the 32-bit version,
trying to be tight on the space usage. Nevertheless, it was frustrating.
So I uninstalled it once again and deleted the conda folders in the
user/Apps section on my C: drive.
I tried installing the 64-bit version and could tell by how the install was
going, that something was different. It went through perfectly and Anaconda
opened right up like it was supposed to as well as Spyder, which is what I
wanted the most.
I wouldn't have thought installing a 32-bit version on (what I know now) is
a 64-bit OS would be problematic, but apparently it was. Not that I profess
to have any real knowledge of this aspect of computers.
Nevertheless, maybe this will help someone and make their day a little
better.
