Will I need a venv? Can I install it through navigator into a base(root)
env ?

It is available, but many of the dependencies are not, yet. We are
working on building them out, and hope to have them available soon.

You will want to make a new conda environment. My recollection is that the
base (aka root aka default) conda environment is pinned to the minor
version of python. Come to think of it, all conda environments might be
pinned that way.

$ conda create --name=py37 python=3.7
$ conda activate py37

i created a new env and opened it in terminal. in order to install the new
packages in it
it will downgrade python to 3.6.
how to install the packages and keep py 3.7 ?

The message from Michael Sarahan (quoted below) addresses this. While
python 3.7 is available, not many of the third party libraries have been
built and packaged for python 3.7 yet. Until Anaconda and conda-forge build
the packages, you'll have to be content to mess around with the new
features of the standard library.

Also direct all replies to the mailing list and not just to me.
