[conda] Feature request: Add option to flag packages as being out-of-date?

Is there any possibility of extending the web interface to the conda repos
so that users could flag packages as being out-of-date?

This could be useful to alert package maintainers that a new version is
available, and also to keep track of packages which have not been updated
for a long time after a new release has been made available (and hence, may
have been orphaned).

For example, Arch Linux packages can be flagged as 'out-of-date' by
registered users:

https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/x86_64/python-scipy/

When a package is flagged as such, the package maintainer is notified, and
the UI indicates how long the package has been flagged for.

Keith,

While this isn't a solution on anaconda.org, you can create PRs at
github.com/conda-forge to update their recipes to a newly releases version.
When the PR is accepted, the CI will trigger and make the new builds
available.

Hi Paul,

That's a fair point. The same can also be done for some other community
repositories hosted on Github, which addresses the core problem of keeping
packages up-to-date.

There still may be some benefits to the flagging in terms of tracking
overall package status and enabling users to flag packages that they do not
have the experience to build themselves.

I opened an issue with conda yesterday
(https://github.com/conda/conda/issues/7834), so it can at least be
considered.

Cheers,
Keith
